Using Knitting Machines to Make Your Knitting Profits Soar
4 good reasons to use knitting machines
Some knitters think they are 'purists' and wouldn't dream of owning knitting machines ... they feel as if switching to knitting machines from hand knitting is somehow 'cheating' or something.
KNITTING MACHINES: 3 GOOD REASONS TO GIVE THEM A GO
On the other hand, there may be lots of good reasons to use knitting machines, either in addition to, or instead of, hand knitting. Here are some of them:
1. To increase the speed of your knitting in general. If you feel you are a good knitter (and no longer a beginner), you might want to switch to knitting machines, at least for some of your work. Knitters rarely, if ever, give up knitting by hand entirely -- so you don't need to worry about 'selling out' just because you're thinking about knitting machines. ;-)
2. To keep up with orders for your knitted goods from buyers. You started a knitting business, and it took off, fast! Now you have more orders than you can handle -- so how will you handle it them? Knitting machines to the rescue!
3. To stop wrist or hand pain -- or not allow it to start. Many knitters begin to suffer from arthritis or carpel tunnel syndrome, or any number of other bone or joint-related pain and discomfort, after years of hand knitting. Knitting machines take all that pain away, and become a relaxing, enjoyable knitting time.
4. To more easily design and/or mass produce a knitting pattern. There are some stitches and patterns that are unique to knitting machines -- they can't be easily reproduced by hand. This will tempt you to take a look at knitting machines in order to pursue a different kind of creativity.
Knitting machines aren't necessarily cheating -- they're just a different form of knitting, but one that you'll probably enjoy equally with hand knitting. :-) Good luck, and have fun!
